Colmán Ó Criodáin was born and grew up in Ireland but in later life has lived in Belgium, Switzerland, France and Kenya. He is a conservation biologist by profession who has always pursued watercolour painting as a hobby but now wishes to transition to a more professional footing. He currently works for WWF as their global manager of wildlife policy matters, officially based in Utrecht in the Netherlands, but dividing his time between there and Haute Savoie, France, as well as international travels. His other hobbies include classical music, cooking, reading (fiction and history) and cinema. He is married, is father to two grown up sons, a granddaughter and a grandson.
